What the Angular team currently documents
Checked on October 5, 2026: the official release page lists Angular 22 as the active major version and Angular 21 in long-term support. Angular 21’s listed LTS window ends in June 2027. Support dates are guidance and can change; check the official page before making a release decision.
The documented cadence is now one major release every twelve months, with several minor releases between majors. The release schedule lists the week of September 21, 2026 for version 22.2. A planned date alone does not establish the exact patch version installed in your project.
What this means for an existing application
You do not need to make a major upgrade merely to launch a working application. AngularGuru continues to use Angular 21 for this release. Keep security patches current, check third-party compatibility, and plan an upgrade within the supported window.
Before you upgrade
- Read the official version compatibility table for Node.js, TypeScript, and RxJS.
- Commit or back up your current work.
- Follow the Angular update guide for your starting and target versions.
- Run the application’s tests and a production build.
- Verify routing, forms, server rendering, and any third-party components in a preview deployment.
Review the changelog for the exact release you intend to use. This update summarizes the support policy; it does not claim that every experimental feature has become stable.
